We Look to the Future
NWOHT is committed to strengthening a more person-centred health system for Nipissing. We’ll continue to work alongside patients, families, caregivers, healthcare providers, Indigenous partners, and community partners to improve access to primary care, strengthen coordinated care, and advance health equity. Together, we’re building a healthier future for the people and communities of Nipissing.
Strategic Plan
NWOHT’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029 sets our direction for the next three years. At its heart is our shared purpose [creating an equitable, accessible and connected health and care continuum for the people and communities of Nipissing] and our role [facilitating collaboration so everyone in Nipissing can thrive]. Six values guide every decision, partnership and initiative [equity, cultural safety and trust; people-centred care and co-design; community focus; collaboration; accountability; and innovation and learning], while five guiding principles — communicate, grow, build relationships, create, and work as a team — describe how we work together every day. The plan is organized the same way as our Annual Business Plan: three Foundations guide the work across the board, and three Strategic Directions focus the work itself [improving access to primary care, advancing integrated and seamless care, and building a connected, high-performing learning health system]. For each one, the plan describes what success looks like in 2029 and how we will get there with our partners.

Annual Business Plan [ABP]
NWOHT’s Annual Business Plan [ABP] puts our 2026–2029 Strategic Plan into action for 2026–27, the first year of that three-year plan. We use people-centred language to describe people who receive care — but we keep the words “patient” and “participant” when official indicators, provincial measures or funders require them [such as in Transfer Payment Agreement reporting]. The ABP sets out our operational goals and objectives, reflecting what our Transfer Payment Agreement expects of us and the priorities our Strategic Planning Working Group helped develop. The operating plan then lays out the day-to-day initiatives and activities that bring those objectives to life. The ABP follows the same structure as the Strategic Plan: three Foundations guide the work across three Strategic Directions. Each initiative falls into one of three stages — Sustain [already underway], Implement [starting this year] or Explore [being scoped for future years].
